Markus holds a degree as Diplom Kaufmann of the University Mannheim and Ph.D. of the Tallinn University of Technology. While being experienced in VC and M&A, his special expertise is investor and public relations, capital market transactions, crisis management, sales & marketing, and US public affairs.

Markus completed his professional corporate career within the Hoechst Group, starting in corporate controlling. For the first corporate spin-off, he was sent to the subsidiary SGL Carbon Group where he supported the initial public offering and listing on the NYSE as head of corporate communications. Subsequently, he managed the US investor relations and graphite by-product sales for the subsidiary SGL Carbon Corp., USA before he was called back to the headquarters Corporate Communications department.

In 1999 he founded his own business in Frankfurt as investor relations consultant and interims manager. His first assignments were for SGL Carbon AG, iXOS AG, Philipp Holzmann AG, Media! AG and Altana Inc. in New York. In 2004 he founded Transatlantic Investor Relations in New York representing and consulting German clients in the US capital market such as Software AG, Heidelberger Druckmaschinen AG and GfK SE. He was Vorstand of the German American Chamber of Commerce New York, Inc and lecturer (Dozent) at the Fachhochschule Braunschweig.
